What does a protected a directory mean?

When we talk about a protected directory we mean someone needs to login with a account to acces the directory and the files.
Host with who have more domains can protect a directory with a special domainname, single domain hosters can use * for all possible domainnames.
All the directories in the protected directory and up are protected with the same account, unless a higher directory or file is protected with an other account.

How to setup a protected directory?

First you need to click on 'Password protected directories' (left on this page, under name 'Settings').
When the page is loaded there are two forms, the first is to bind a account to a directory and the second is to make the accounts.
Take the second form first, fill in the value Username the new accountname and fill in the value password the password you want to protect directories with.
Click on the account picture with the + to make the new account.
Go to the first form, fil in the value Directory the location that need protection, use * at the beginning if you want protection for every domain.
Fill in the value Accounts the account(s), use a ; between the accounts if you want more accounts to have acces to the location.
Click on the + to add protection to the directory.

How can I give nobody acces to a directory?

You close all acces to a directory to bind a account to a directory that does not exist. Nobody will be able to acces the file\directory.
