What is hotlink protection
Hotlink protection helps you saving brandwidth by protecting pictures and other files.
It's possible that some site(s) are linking to the pictures or other media files on you're host, this can take a lot of the brandwidth and speed.
This is why hotlink protection is build in, when a client is requesting a picture it will send the hostname of the page that is linking to it.
With hotlink protection you can setup some domainnames that are allowd to require files with particular extensions.
You are able to setup the extensions that need the protection and you are able to turn of the protection to allow every request.
How to enable/disable hotlink protection and add allowed domains?
You can enable hotlink protection by clicking on 'General setting' (left on this page, under name 'Settings'), click on modify picture(the pencil) and check the checkbox 'Enable hotlink protection'.
To setup the the extensions that need protection change the value behind 'Hotlink Extensions', use a point but not a star before the extension, use a point comma(;) between every extension.
Click on the picture with the V sign to save the settings.
To add allowed domains click on 'Hotlink protection' (left at the page, under name 'Settings').
Fill in the value Domain the domain and/or ip adress and click on button with the big plus to add the the domain as allowed.
Repeat this last action until you added all allowd domains.
